    1

Go to Zocdoc and search for a provider

    ~15s
Visit zocdoc.com or open the Zocdoc app. Enter the type of doctor you need (such as "primary care" or "cardiologist") and your ZIP code. Zocdoc will display providers with real-time appointment availability near you.
    2

    Filter by your insurance

    ~19s
At the top of the search results, tap or click "Insurance" and select your insurance company and plan name. The results will update to show only doctors who accept your insurance and are in-network, which helps avoid unexpected bills.

    Quick Tip

If you are not sure of your exact plan name, check the front of your insurance card.

    3

Review provider profiles and choose a time

    ~18s
Click on a provider's name to view their full profile — credentials, languages spoken, office location, patient reviews, and a calendar of available time slots. Choose a date and time that works for your schedule. You can also filter for telehealth (video visit) options if you prefer to be seen from home.
    4

Create an account and confirm your booking

    ~17s
After selecting a time, Zocdoc will ask you to create a free account or sign in. Enter your contact information, insurance details, and a brief description of why you are visiting. Review your booking details and tap "Book Appointment." A confirmation email will be sent immediately.
    5

    Prepare for your appointment

    ~15s
Before your visit, write down your current medications (name and dosage), any symptoms you are experiencing, and questions you want answered. If it is a telehealth appointment, test your camera and microphone ahead of time and find a quiet, well-lit space.

Zocdoc is a free online service that shows you real appointment openings at doctors' offices near you. Instead of calling multiple offices, waiting on hold, and being told the next available appointment is weeks away, Zocdoc lets you see every available opening right now and book in a few minutes.

Zocdoc covers a wide range of medical specialties — primary care physicians, dermatologists, cardiologists, OB/GYNs, dentists, mental health therapists, and many more. Many listings also offer telehealth (video) appointments, which can be done from your home.

To get started, go to zocdoc.com in any web browser or download the free Zocdoc app from the App Store or Google Play. You do not need an account to search, but you will need to create one to complete a booking.

In the search area, enter the type of provider you need (for example, "primary care doctor" or "dermatologist") and your ZIP code or city. Zocdoc will show you a list of providers who have upcoming availability. You can filter results by your insurance plan — select your insurance company and plan name to see only doctors who are in-network for you.

Each provider listing shows their photo, credentials, patient ratings and written reviews, office location, and available appointment slots for the next several days. Click on a provider's name to read their full profile and see all their available times displayed on a calendar.

When you find a time that works, click it and follow the steps to create a Zocdoc account (or sign in if you already have one). You will enter your insurance information and basic health information. After confirming your details, your appointment is booked and you will receive a confirmation email.

Zocdoc sends reminder notifications by email or text before your appointment. If your plans change, you can cancel or reschedule directly through the app or website.

Before your visit, prepare by writing down your current medications, any symptoms or concerns you want to discuss, and questions for the doctor. Zocdoc is a scheduling tool — it does not replace your actual conversation with the provider.

Not every doctor in your area will be listed on Zocdoc. The service includes only providers who have chosen to list their availability on the platform. If your preferred doctor is not on Zocdoc, you will still need to call their office directly.
