How to Increase Font Size and Display Size on Your Android Phone

If text on your Android phone feels too small to read comfortably, you can change it right now in a few taps. Android has two separate controls that work together: Font Size, which changes the size of text in apps and menus, and Display Size, which changes the overall scale of everything on screen — icons, buttons, images, and text all together.

Font Size controls only the text. When you increase it, words in your messages, emails, and browser become larger. This does not affect the size of app icons or other non-text elements. Font Size is found in Settings → Accessibility → Text and Display → Font Size, where a slider lets you go from the smallest option all the way to the largest.

Display Size is more powerful. Increasing the Display Size makes the entire interface larger — icons, menus, buttons, and text all scale up together, making the whole phone feel more spacious and easier to navigate. You can find Display Size in the same Accessibility menu, right alongside Font Size.

These two settings are independent and you can use them together. Increasing Font Size by one step and Display Size by one step is a good starting point. If that is not enough, go up another step with each. The phone will show you a preview of how your screen will look before you confirm any changes.

The exact location of these settings may vary slightly by phone brand. Samsung Galaxy phones, for example, have these settings under Settings → Display → Font Size and Style. Pixel phones and most stock Android phones use Settings → Accessibility → Display Size and Text. If you cannot find them, search for "font size" in your phone's search bar within Settings.

Nothing about these changes is permanent — you can return to the original settings at any time.
