Make Text Bigger on Your Android Phone
Android phones have simple settings to make text and everything on screen much larger. Learn how to adjust font size and display size in just a few taps.

Step 1. Open Accessibility settings
Open the Settings app on your Android phone (the gear icon in your app drawer or notification shade). Scroll down and tap "Accessibility," then tap "Display Size and Text" or "Text and Display" depending on your Android version. On Samsung Galaxy phones, look under SettingsDisplay instead.
Step 2. Increase the Font Size
Tap "Font Size" and drag the slider to the right to make text larger. A preview area at the top of the screen shows you how text will look at each size. Move the slider gradually — one or two steps larger than the default is usually noticeable without making the interface feel awkward. Tap the back button or "Apply" to confirm.

Quick Tip: Most Android phones offer between 4 and 6 font size steps. The default is usually in the middle. Moving it one notch to the right is a good starting adjustment.
Step 3. Increase the Display Size
Tap "Display Size" (you may need to go back one level in Accessibility settings to find it). Use the slider or the plus/minus buttons to make the display larger. Increasing Display Size enlarges everything — icons, buttons, and images scale up along with text. The preview at the top updates in real time so you can see the effect before committing.
Step 4. Adjust Bold Text if available
In the same Accessibility menu, look for a "Bold text" toggle and turn it on if available. Bold text makes letters thicker and easier to read without changing the size. Not all Android phones have this option. But it is available on most Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices.
If text on your Android phone feels too small to read comfortably, you can change it right now in a few taps. Android has two separate controls that work together: Font Size, which changes the size of text in apps and menus, and Display Size, which changes the overall scale of everything on screen — icons, buttons, images, and text all together.
Font Size controls only the text. When you increase it, words in your messages, emails, and browser become larger. This does not affect the size of app icons or other non-text elements. Font Size is found in SettingsAccessibilityText and DisplayFont Size, where a slider lets you go from the smallest option all the way to the largest.
Display Size is more powerful. Increasing the Display Size makes the entire interface larger — icons, menus, buttons, and text all scale up together, making the whole phone feel more spacious and easier to navigate. You can find Display Size in the same Accessibility menu, right alongside Font Size.
These two settings are independent and you can use them together. Increasing Font Size by one step and Display Size by one step is a good starting point. If that is not enough, go up another step with each. The phone will show you a preview of how your screen will look before you confirm any changes.
The exact location of these settings may vary slightly by phone brand. Samsung Galaxy phones, for example, have these settings under SettingsDisplayFont Size and Style. Pixel phones and most stock Android phones use Settings → AccessibilityDisplay Size and Text. If you cannot find them, search for "font size" in your phone's search bar within Settings.
Nothing about these changes is permanent. You can return to the original settings at any time.
