    How to Use Android Widgets

    What are widgets?

    Widgets are mini app windows that live on your home screen. See weather, calendar events, news, music controls, and more without opening any app. They display live, updating information.

    Add a widget

    Long-press on empty home screen space > Widgets. Browse by app. Press and drag a widget to your home screen. Resize by long-pressing the widget and dragging its edges.

    Essential widgets

    Clock/Weather: see time and forecast at a glance. Calendar: see upcoming events. Google Search bar: search from the home screen. Music controls: play/pause without opening the app.

    Productivity widgets

    Google Keep: sticky notes on your home screen. Gmail: see recent emails. Google Drive: quick access to recent files. Battery: monitor battery percentage of phone and connected devices.

    Remove or resize

    Long-press a widget > Remove or Resize. You can stack widgets (on Samsung: Smart Widget Stack). Swipe through stacked widgets to save home screen space.

    Widget recommendations

    At a Glance (Google): shows date, weather, upcoming events, travel time. Spotify/YouTube Music: playback controls. Photos: displays memories. Calculator: quick calculations without opening an app.
