How to Move Your Contacts to a New Phone

Don't lose your contacts when switching phones. Here's how to transfer them to iPhone or Android in minutes.

    1

Check if your contacts are backed up

    ~15s
On iPhone: go to Settings, tap your name, then iCloud, and make sure Contacts is turned on. On Android: go to Settings, then Google, then Backup, and make sure it is turned on.
    2

Sign in on your new phone

    ~15s
On your new phone, sign in with the same Apple ID (iPhone) or Google account (Android) you used on your old phone. Your contacts will appear automatically.

    Quick Tip

This is the easiest method and works for most people. Your contacts sync through the cloud.

    3

Transfer contacts between iPhone and Android

    ~15s
If you are switching from Android to iPhone, download the "Move to iOS" app on your Android phone. If switching from iPhone to Android, use Google Drive to export your contacts.
    4

    Transfer using a SIM card

    ~15s
If your contacts are stored on your SIM card, move the SIM to your new phone. Go to Contacts settings and choose "Import from SIM."

    Warning

SIM cards hold a limited number of contacts (around 250). If you have more, use cloud backup instead.
