Use Writing Tools everywhere

Select any text you've written (email, note, message) and tap "Writing Tools" in the popup menu. Options include: Proofread (fixes grammar and spelling), Rewrite (rephrases your text), Make Friendly/Professional/Concise (adjusts tone), and Summarize (shortens long text). This works in Mail, Messages, Notes, and any text field. It's like having an editor built into your keyboard.

Smart email and notification summaries

In Mail, Apple Intelligence shows a brief summary of each email right in your inbox — no need to open them to know what they're about. Long email threads get condensed into key points. Notification Summaries group and summarize notifications from the same app so you see "3 messages from Family Group Chat about dinner plans" instead of three separate alerts.

Create images with Image Playground

Open the Image Playground app (comes with iOS 18.2+). Describe what you want to create in plain language — "a golden retriever wearing a birthday hat in a garden." Choose a style: Animation, Illustration, or Sketch. The AI generates the image in seconds. You can also create custom emoji (Genmoji) — type a description in the emoji keyboard and it creates a unique emoji just for you.

Quick Tip

Image Playground creates cartoon/illustration-style images, not photorealistic ones. It's great for fun messages and personal projects.

Enhanced Siri with Apple Intelligence

Siri now understands natural language much better. You can say things like "Show me the photos I took at the park last Saturday" or "Find the email from my dentist about my appointment." Siri can also type responses for you — just say "Type to Siri" or enable it in SettingsSiriType to Siri. Siri now maintains context across follow-up questions too.
