How to Use Bixby on Samsung Galaxy Phones

Wake up Bixby

Try a basic voice command

Say "Bixby, what time is it?" or "Bixby, set a timer for 10 minutes" to test that it is working. You can also try "Bixby, open the camera" or "Bixby, call Mom."

Speak clearly and at a normal pace. Bixby works best in quiet environments — it may struggle in noisy rooms.

Enable voice wake (optional)

Open the Bixby app → tap SettingsVoice Wake-Up → toggle it on. Train Bixby to recognize your voice by saying "Hi Bixby" several times as prompted. After training, your phone responds when you say the wake phrase.

Set up a Bixby Routine

Open SettingsAdvanced FeaturesBixby Routines. Tap "+" to create a new routine. Set an "If" condition (time, location, connected device, or battery level) and a "Then" action (change settings, open apps, send a message).

Adjust the side button behavior

If Bixby opens accidentally when you press the side button, go to SettingsAdvanced FeaturesSide key. Under "Press and hold," choose "Power off menu" instead of "Wake Bixby."

If you find Bixby accidentally opens when you press the side button, you can go to Settings → Advanced Features → Side key and change what the side button does (long press can be set to power menu instead).
