    How to Use FaceTime for Video Calls

    What is FaceTime?

    FaceTime is Apple's free video and audio calling app. It comes built into every iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Calls are encrypted and high quality. You can even call Android and Windows users with a link.

    Make a FaceTime call

    Open the FaceTime app. Tap the + button. Enter a name, email, or phone number. Tap the video camera icon for video or the phone icon for audio only.

    Call non-Apple users

    In FaceTime, tap "Create Link." Share the link via text, email, or any messaging app. The recipient opens the link in their web browser — no Apple device or app needed.

    Group FaceTime

    Start a FaceTime call, then tap "Add People" to include more participants. Or create a group in FaceTime and call everyone at once. Up to 32 people can join.

    During a call

    Tap the screen to see controls. Flip camera (front/back). Mute your microphone. Turn off your camera. Use effects and filters for fun.

    SharePlay

    Watch movies, listen to music, or share your screen with others during a FaceTime call. Tap the SharePlay button and choose what to share. Everyone experiences it in sync.
