Files by Google is a free storage management app from Google for Android phones. It helps you find and delete files that waste space — temporary files, duplicate photos, downloaded documents you no longer need, large videos, and offline content from apps.
Many Android users run out of storage without realizing how much space is being used by junk. Files by Google scans your phone and organizes what it finds into easy-to-clean categories.
The app also works as a regular file manager — you can browse all your files organized by type (images, videos, audio, documents), move files, and share files with nearby Android devices using Nearby Share.
Storage categories Files by Google identifies:
- Junk files: App cache, temporary files - Large files: Videos, ZIP archives over 10 MB - Downloads: Files you downloaded and may not need - Duplicate files: Multiple copies of the same photo or file - Used apps: Apps you have not opened in weeks or months - Backed up photos: Photos already safely backed up to Google Photos that can be deleted from device storage
Files by Google is completely free and available in the Google Play Store. On many Android phones, it comes pre-installed.
