If you use an Android phone, Google Calendar is already built in and ready to help you remember birthdays. Once you add a birthday, Google Calendar will show it every year on the same date without you having to do anything else. You will get a small notification on your phone, which is a polite way for the calendar to tap you on the shoulder and say, "Today is someone special's birthday." This guide shows you two ways to save a birthday. The first way uses the Google Contacts app, which is helpful because the birthday will be linked to the person's name and phone number. The second way uses the Google Calendar app directly, which works even if you do not have the person saved as a contact. Both ways are free, and both work on Samsung, Google Pixel, Motorola, and most other Android phones. The screens may look slightly different depending on your phone brand, but the main steps are the same. You do not need to download anything new. You only need to be signed in to your Google account, which most Android phones already are. By the end of this guide, your phone will quietly track birthdays for you and remind you in plenty of time to call, text, or send a card. You can add birthdays for as many people as you like, including grandchildren, neighbors, doctors, or even pets. If you want to remove a birthday later, you can do that too. Take your time and read each step before tapping. If something does not look right, you can always tap the back arrow in the top left corner to go back a screen. Nothing you tap will harm your phone.
