    How to Print a Photo at Home

    Print a beautiful photo at home using your photo printer or inkjet — here's how to get the best quality results.

    Choose the right paper

    For best results, use glossy or semi-gloss photo paper. Standard printer paper will make photos look dull and the ink may smear.

    Open the photo on your computer

    Double-click the photo file to open it in your default photo viewer (Photos on Windows or Preview on Mac).

    Open the print dialog

    Press Ctrl+P (Windows) or ⌘+P (Mac). Select your printer from the list.

    Adjust photo print settings

    Change the paper type to "Photo paper" or "Glossy." Set the quality to "High" or "Best." Choose the size you want (4x6, 5x7, or full page). Then click Print.

    Quick Tip

    Setting the quality to "Best" uses more ink but the difference in photo quality is very noticeable.
