Printing a photo from your iPhone is a wonderful way to share memories with family who are not online. You can frame a picture of the grandchildren, mail a photo to a friend, or fill an album with prints from your last vacation. There are two main ways to do this: print at home with a wireless printer, or order prints from a store like CVS, Walgreens, or Walmart and pick them up later.
If you have a wireless printer made in the last several years, it most likely supports AirPrint. AirPrint is Apple's built-in printing system. It does not need any extra app. Your iPhone finds the printer on your home Wi-Fi and sends the picture over. The print comes out in about a minute.
If you do not have a printer, no problem. The Walgreens, CVS, and Walmart Photo apps let you upload pictures from your iPhone and pick them up at a nearby store, often the same day. Prices start around 39 cents for a 4x6 print. This is a great option if you only print a few photos a year.
Before you start printing at home, check that your printer is turned on, has paper loaded, and is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iPhone. If your printer is plugged into the wall but not on Wi-Fi, look at the printer's screen and follow the menu to connect it. The printer manual or the company's website has clear instructions.
The steps below cover printing at home with AirPrint. If you need store pickup instead, download the Walgreens, CVS, or Walmart Photo app from the App Store and follow the prompts inside the app.
