    How to Install and Uninstall Programs on Windows

    Learn to safely add and remove software on your Windows PC.

    Install from the Microsoft Store

    Open Microsoft Store, find the app, and click Install. This is the safest method.

    Install from a download

    Download the installer (.exe or .msi) from the developer's official website. Double-click to run it.

    Warning

    Only download software from the developer's official website. Third-party download sites often bundle malware with legitimate software.

    Follow the installer wizard

    Click through the setup wizard. Watch out for bundled software — uncheck any "extras" you don't want.

    Quick Tip

    Always choose "Custom" installation and uncheck any extra toolbars, browsers, or software you did not ask for.
