Safari Tips and Tricks for Mac

Browse faster and more privately with Safari's hidden features and useful shortcuts.

    1

    Tab groups

    ~15s
Organize tabs into groups: right-click a tab > Move to Tab Group > New Tab Group. Create groups for "Work," "Shopping," "Research." Switch between groups from the sidebar.
    2

    Reader mode

    ~15s
Click the Reader icon (lines) in the address bar to strip away ads, navigation, and clutter. See just the article text in a clean format. Customize font, size, and background color.
    3

    Privacy Report

    ~15s
Click the shield icon in the address bar to see how many trackers Safari blocked on that site. Safari blocks cross-site tracking by default — much better privacy than Chrome out of the box.
    4

    Passwords and Passkeys

    ~15s
Safari saves passwords securely. Preferences > Passwords to view and manage saved passwords. Safari alerts you if a saved password appears in a known data breach.
    5

    Keyboard shortcuts

    ~15s
+T: new tab. +W: close tab. +Z: reopen closed tab. +L: select address bar. +Shift+]: next tab. +Shift+[: previous tab. +F: find on page.
    6

    Profiles

    ~15s
Safari > Settings > Profiles. Create separate browsing profiles (Personal, Work) with their own history, cookies, bookmarks, and extensions. Keep work and personal browsing completely separate.
