Notion for Beginners: Organize Everything in One Place

Use Notion to create notes, to-do lists, databases, and wikis — all in one free app.

    1

    What is Notion?

    ~15s
Notion is a free all-in-one workspace. Think of it as a combination of notes, to-do lists, spreadsheets, and wikis. Students, professionals, and families use it to organize everything.
    2

    Get started

    ~15s
Visit notion.so and create a free account. The free plan includes unlimited pages for personal use. Install the desktop app and mobile app for access everywhere.
    3

    Create your first page

    ~15s
Click + New Page in the sidebar. Type a title and start writing. Use / (slash) commands to add headings, bullet lists, checkboxes, images, tables, and more.
    4

    Use templates

    ~15s
Click Templates in the sidebar to browse hundreds of ready-made templates: meal planners, habit trackers, reading lists, project managers, budgets, and more. Customize them to fit your needs.
    5

    Organize with the sidebar

    ~15s
Create pages inside pages (nested) to build a structure. Drag pages to reorder them. Use icons and covers to make pages visually distinct and easy to find.
    6

    Databases

    ~15s
Notion's superpower: create tables that work like spreadsheets but with views. A table can be viewed as a list, board (kanban), calendar, or gallery. Great for tracking anything.
    7

    Share and collaborate

    ~15s
Click Share at the top of any page. Invite people by email or create a shareable link. Collaborators can view or edit depending on permissions you set.
