    How to Transfer Data to a New Phone

    Move everything from your old phone to your new one: contacts, photos, apps, and messages.

    iPhone to iPhone

    Use Quick Start: place your new iPhone next to your old one. A setup prompt appears. Scan the animation with your old phone. Everything transfers wirelessly: apps, data, settings. Takes 30-60 minutes.

    Android to Android

    ~15s
    Connect both phones with the included cable (or use Wi-Fi). During new phone setup, choose "Copy data from old phone." Google's transfer tool moves apps, contacts, photos, messages, and settings.

    iPhone to Android

    Download "Switch to Android" app on your iPhone. During Android setup, choose "Copy data from iPhone." Transfers contacts, photos, videos, calendar, and messages. Apps need to be re-downloaded.

    Android to iPhone

    Download "Move to iOS" app on your Android. During iPhone setup, choose "Move Data from Android." Transfers contacts, messages, photos, Google account, and bookmarks. Re-download apps from App Store.

    Before you transfer

    Back up your old phone first (iCloud or Google). Charge both phones above 50%. Connect to Wi-Fi. Know your Apple ID and Google account passwords. The transfer can take 1-3 hours for large amounts of data.

    After the transfer

    Sign into apps individually (banking, social media). Re-download any missing apps. Set up fingerprint/Face ID. Update your payment methods. Verify two-factor authentication is working on the new phone.

    What about your old phone?

    Keep it as a backup for 2-4 weeks. Once you're confident the new phone has everything, factory reset the old phone (Settings > General > Transfer or Reset). Trade it in, sell it, or recycle it.
