How to Switch Between Streaming Apps on Smart TV

Learn how to move between Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, and other apps on your TV.

    1

    Press the Home button

    ~15s
On your TV remote, press the Home button (it usually looks like a little house). This takes you back to the main screen where you can see all your apps.
    2

    Select a different app

    ~15s
Use the arrow buttons on your remote to highlight the app you want to open. Press OK or Enter to open it. The previous app will close or pause in the background.
    3

    Use recent apps (if available)

    ~19s
Some smart TVs and streaming devices let you see recently used apps. On Fire TV, press and hold the Home button. On Roku, press Home twice quickly. This shows your recent apps for quick switching.

    Quick Tip

The Home button is your best friend. Anytime you get lost or stuck, press Home to go back to the main screen.

    4

    Closing an app completely

    ~15s
If an app is acting slow or frozen, you can force close it. Go to Settings, then Apps, find the app, and select "Force Stop" or "Close." Then reopen it from the home screen.
