    How to Take a Screenshot on Windows

    Capture your screen using built-in Windows tools — no extra software needed.

    Full screen screenshot

    Press the Print Screen (PrtScn) key to capture the entire screen to your clipboard. Paste it into Paint or a document.

    Screenshot to file

    Press ⊞ Win+Print Screen to save a full screenshot directly as a PNG file in your Pictures → Screenshots folder.

    Use Snipping Tool

    Press ⊞ Win+Shift+S to open Snipping Tool. Draw a rectangle around the area you want to capture.

    Capture a single window

    Click the window you want, then press Alt+Print Screen to capture just that window.

    Annotate and share

    After using Snipping Tool, click the notification to open the screenshot in the editor where you can mark it up and save.
