How to Use Google Meet for Free Video Calls

Start a free video call with Google Meet directly from your browser — no app download required.

Go to meet.google.com

Open any web browser and go to meet.google.com. Sign in with your Gmail account. If you do not have a Gmail account, you can create one for free at gmail.com.

Start a new meeting

Click "New meeting" and then "Start an instant meeting" to begin a video call right now. Your camera and microphone will activate — allow access when your browser asks.

Invite others to join

Once in the meeting, click the person icon or "Add others" button. You can copy the meeting link and send it by email, text, or any messaging app. Anyone with the link can join from their browser without needing a Google account.

Join a meeting you were invited to

If someone sends you a Google Meet link (it looks like meet.google.com/abc-defg-hij), click the link. If you are signed into your Google account, you can join immediately. If not, you can join as a guest by entering your name.

Use Meet from Gmail

Google Meet is also accessible directly from Gmail. In the left sidebar of Gmail, look for "Meet" with a video camera icon. Click "New meeting" or "Join a meeting" to start or join a call without leaving your email.
