    Download Signal

    Search for "Signal" in the App Store or Google Play Store. Download it for free. Signal is used by millions of people who want extra privacy for their messages.

    Register your phone number

    Open Signal and enter your phone number. You will receive a verification code by text. Enter the code, then set your name and profile picture.

    Start a conversation

    Tap the pencil button to start a new message. Signal will show contacts from your phone who also use Signal. Select someone to start chatting.

    Send messages and media

    Type your message and tap send. You can also send photos, voice messages, files, and your location. Everything is automatically encrypted, meaning only you and the person you are talking to can read it.

    Signal also has disappearing messages. Turn this on in a chat to make messages automatically delete after a set time.
