    How to Use Spotify to Listen to Music

    Listen to millions of songs for free on Spotify, or upgrade for an ad-free experience.

    Download Spotify

    Search for "Spotify" in the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android). Download it for free and open it.

    Create a free account

    Sign up with your email address and create a password. You can use Spotify for free with ads, or pay for Spotify Premium to remove ads and listen offline.

    Search for music

    Tap the Search icon (magnifying glass) at the bottom. Type in a song name, artist name, or genre. Spotify will show matching results.

    Try searching for "oldies," "classic rock," "jazz," or any genre you enjoy to discover playlists made for that style.

    Play a song

    Tap on any song to start playing it. Use the controls at the bottom of the screen to pause, skip, or go back to the previous song.

    Create a playlist

    Tap "Your Library" at the bottom, then "Create Playlist." Give it a name like "My Favorites." Now when you find songs you love, tap the three dots next to the song and choose "Add to Playlist."

    Discover new music

    Tap "Home" at the bottom to see playlists and recommendations based on what you listen to. Spotify learns your taste and suggests music you might like.
