How to Use Uber to Get a Ride

Learn how to request a ride with Uber so someone drives you where you need to go.

    1

    Download the Uber app

    ~15s
Go to the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android) and search for "Uber." Download the free app and open it.
    2

    Create your account

    ~17s
Sign up with your phone number, email address, and name. Add a payment method like a credit card or debit card. Uber charges you automatically after each ride — no cash needed.

    Quick Tip

You can also link your PayPal account as a payment method if you prefer not to enter a credit card.

    3

    Enter your destination

    ~15s
Open the app and type where you want to go in the "Where to?" box at the top. Select the correct address from the suggestions that appear.
    4

Choose your ride type and confirm

    ~15s
Uber will show you different ride options (like UberX for a regular car or Comfort for a nicer car) and the estimated price. Pick the one you want and tap "Confirm" to request the ride.
    5

    Meet your driver

    ~18s
The app will show your driver's name, car type, color, and license plate number. Wait at your pickup spot. When the car arrives, confirm the driver's name before getting in.

    Warning

Always check the license plate and driver's name before getting in the car. Never get into a car that does not match what the app shows.

    6

    Rate your ride

    ~15s
After you arrive, the app will ask you to rate your driver with stars (1-5). Payment is charged automatically to your card — no tipping is required, but you can add a tip in the app if you want.
