Download the Walgreens app and create an account

    ~33s
Search for "Walgreens" in the App Store or Google Play and install the free app. Open it and tap "Sign In" if you already have a Walgreens account, or tap "Create Account" to set up a new one. Enter your name, email address, phone number, and create a password. If you have a myWalgreens membership card, enter that number to link your account. If you do not, you can join myWalgreens during registration at no cost.

    Quick Tip

Use the same phone number you gave Walgreens at the pharmacy counter — this helps the app automatically link your prescription history to your account.

    2

Refill a prescription using the app

    ~31s
Tap the "Pharmacy" tab at the bottom of the screen. Your current prescriptions on file at Walgreens will appear here. Tap a medication and select "Refill." Alternatively, you can scan the barcode on your prescription bottle by tapping the camera icon — this is the fastest method if you have the bottle handy. Choose your preferred Walgreens location for pickup or select home delivery if available for your medication.

    Warning

Controlled substances and medications that require a new prescription cannot be refilled through the app. If your refill is declined, contact your doctor for a new prescription.

    3

Use digital coupons and myWalgreens rewards

    ~24s
Tap the "Savings" or "Deals" tab to see weekly coupons and personalized offers. Tap "Add to Card" on any offer to load it to your account. When you check out at Walgreens — in store, online, or at the pharmacy — give your phone number or scan the myWalgreens barcode in the app to apply your loaded coupons and earn points. Points accumulate and are redeemable as Walgreens Cash rewards on future purchases.
    4

    Schedule a vaccine appointment

    ~31s
Tap "Health" or "Immunizations" in the app menu. You will see options to schedule flu shots, COVID boosters, shingles vaccines, RSV vaccines, and others. Select the vaccine you need, choose your nearest Walgreens, pick a date and time, and confirm your appointment. After receiving the vaccine, your immunization record will be added to the app and you can download or print a record for your personal files.

    Quick Tip

Many health insurance plans cover vaccines at no cost when received at a pharmacy. The app will ask for your insurance information when scheduling so it can bill your insurance automatically.

Walgreens is one of the most recognized pharmacy chains in the United States, with pharmacies in all 50 states. The Walgreens app makes managing your health and shopping needs more convenient by bringing prescription management, rewards tracking, health records, and appointment scheduling to your smartphone.

Prescription management is the most commonly used feature. Through the app, you can refill existing prescriptions by scanning the barcode on the bottle or selecting from your prescription history. You can choose to pick up in the store or, for many medications, receive home delivery. The app sends notifications when your prescription is ready so you can plan your pickup.

Walgreens also operates a rewards program called myWalgreens (formerly Balance Rewards). The app connects to your myWalgreens account, where points accumulate from purchases and are redeemable for cash rewards at checkout. Digital coupons load directly from the app to your account and apply automatically.

The Walgreens health section includes tools beyond pharmacy. You can schedule flu shots, COVID vaccinations, and other immunizations at your local Walgreens directly through the app. After receiving a vaccine at Walgreens, your immunization record is stored in the app, making it easy to share with doctors or employers who need documentation.

The app also connects to Walgreens Find Care, which can help you locate health services including virtual doctor visits and testing. The app is free on iPhone and Android, and walgreens.com provides the same functionality in a browser.
