Search effectively

Use specific search terms. Add "tutorial," "for beginners," or "explained" to find helpful content. Use filters (tap the filter icon) to show results from this week/month or sort by view count.

Subscribe to channels

Found a channel you like? Tap Subscribe. New videos appear in your Subscriptions tab. Tap the bell icon to get notifications when they post new content.

Create playlists

Save videos to playlists for later. Tap Save (below the video) and choose or create a playlist: "Recipes to Try," "Exercise Videos," "Gardening Tips." Access playlists from the Library tab.

Adjust playback

Tap the gear icon during a video. Change quality (lower for slow internet), playback speed (1.25x to watch faster), and turn on captions/subtitles.

Watch on your TV

Tap the Cast icon to send YouTube to your smart TV, Chromecast, or Apple TV. Your phone becomes the remote control. YouTube is also available as an app on most smart TVs.

Manage your watch history
