    Text Messaging Tips and Tricks

Go beyond basic texting with group chats, photos, reactions, and advanced messaging features.

    1

    Send photos and videos

    ~15s
Tap the camera icon or + button in your messaging app. Take a new photo or choose one from your gallery. On iPhone, you can also send Live Photos and video messages.
    2

    Group messages

    ~15s
Create a group by adding multiple contacts to a new message. Name the group for easy identification. Everyone in the group sees all messages — great for family coordination.
    3

    React to messages

    ~15s
On iPhone: press and hold a message to add a reaction (heart, thumbs up, laugh). On Android: press and hold for similar emoji reactions. It's a quick way to acknowledge a message.
    4

    Schedule messages

    ~15s
Need to send a birthday text at midnight? On Android: press and hold the send button > Schedule Send. On iPhone with iOS 18+: tap + > Send Later.
    5

    Share your location

    ~15s
In Messages, tap the + or info button > Share My Location. Choose how long: one hour, until end of day, or indefinitely. Family members can see where you are on a map.
    6

    Mute conversations

    ~15s
Getting too many notifications from a group chat? Swipe left on the conversation (iPhone) or long-press (Android) and select Mute or Hide Alerts. You still receive messages but no notifications.
