How to Use Airbnb: Book Stays & Experiences Like a Pro

Find and book vacation rentals, read reviews, communicate with hosts, and get the best deals on Airbnb.

    1

    Create your account

    ~18s
Download the Airbnb app or go to airbnb.com. Sign up with your email, Google, Facebook, or Apple account. Complete your profile: add a clear photo of yourself (hosts are more likely to accept bookings from people with photos), write a short bio, and verify your phone number and email. A complete profile builds trust with hosts.
    2

Search for a place to stay

    ~19s
Enter your destination, check-in and check-out dates, and number of guests. Browse the results — each listing shows photos, price per night, star rating, and key features. Use filters to narrow results: price range, property type (entire home vs. private room), amenities (Wi-Fi, kitchen, parking, washer), and accessibility features. The map view helps you see locations.
    3

    Read reviews carefully

    ~26s
Scroll down on any listing to read guest reviews. Focus on: cleanliness scores, accuracy (does it match the photos?), check-in experience, and communication with the host. Look for patterns — if multiple reviews mention a noisy neighborhood or uncomfortable beds, take that seriously. Listings with "Superhost" badges mean the host has consistently high ratings.

    Quick Tip

Look at the most recent reviews first — conditions can change over time. A place with great reviews from 2 years ago might not be the same today.

    4

    Book and pay

    ~24s
Tap "Reserve" on the listing you want. Review the price breakdown (nightly rate + cleaning fee + service fee + taxes). Some hosts offer weekly or monthly discounts for longer stays. Enter your payment information and tap "Confirm and Pay." You can message the host before or after booking with any questions about the space.

    Warning

Always book through Airbnb's platform — never pay a host directly outside the app. Airbnb's payment protection only covers official bookings.

    5

    During your stay

    ~21s
The host will send check-in instructions (usually a day before) through the Airbnb app — this may include a door code, lockbox combination, or key pickup location. If anything is wrong (cleanliness issue, broken amenity, etc.), message the host immediately through the app. If the host can't resolve it, contact Airbnb support. After checkout, leave an honest review — it helps future guests.
