How to Customize Android Quick Settings

The Quick Settings panel gives you one-tap access to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, flashlight, and more. Learn how to rearrange and personalize it.

    1

    Open Quick Settings

    ~16s
Swipe down from the top of your screen once to see a partial Quick Settings bar. Swipe down again (or swipe down with two fingers) to expand it fully. This shows all your current tiles — the squares and icons for settings like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, flashlight, etc.
    2

    Enter edit mode

    ~15s
Look for an edit button — it's usually a pencil icon, a grid icon, or the word "Edit" near the bottom of the expanded Quick Settings panel. Tap it to enter editing mode. On Samsung phones, tap the three vertical dots and choose "Edit buttons."
    3

    Add new tiles

    ~24s
In edit mode, you'll see all your current active tiles at the top, and a list of available tiles below. To add a new tile (like flashlight, hotspot, or screenshot), press and hold it, then drag it up into the active tiles area. Place it where you want it in the order.

    Quick Tip

The first 4-6 tiles are the ones visible without expanding the panel. Put your most-used shortcuts here so they're always one swipe away.

    4

    Remove and rearrange

    ~15s
To remove a tile you don't use, press and hold it in the active area and drag it down to the available tiles section. To rearrange the order, press and hold any tile and drag it to a new position. Release to drop it in place.
    5

    Save and use

    ~21s
When you're done, tap "Done" or tap the back arrow to exit edit mode. Your new Quick Settings layout is saved immediately. Swipe down to see your customized panel and test your new tiles.

    Quick Tip

Quick Tip: add the "Flashlight" tile to your first position — it's one of the most-used Quick Settings and having it first saves time when you need it in the dark.

Quick Settings is the control panel that slides down when you swipe from the top of your Android phone's screen. It gives you quick access to settings you use frequently — like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, airplane mode, flashlight, screen brightness, and more.

Most people only use the default Quick Settings tiles — but you can add, remove, and rearrange them to put the shortcuts you use most right at your fingertips. For example, if you frequently need the flashlight, you can move it to the very first tile so it's always one tap away.

Quick Settings also lets you access certain features in a single tap instead of opening the full Settings app and navigating through multiple menus. This can save a lot of time for settings you toggle frequently, like mobile data, battery saver, or auto-rotate.

The Quick Settings panel looks slightly different depending on your Android phone's brand — Samsung Galaxy phones have their own look, and Pixel phones have a different style — but the customization process is similar across all of them.
