    Verify you qualify for the senior plan

    Check if your current phone works on AT&T

AT&T will confirm whether your phone is compatible. Phones from Verizon or T-Mobile that are unlocked generally work on AT&T's network.     Visit an AT&T store or sign up online

    Set up AutoPay to get the discounted rate

    The lower senior plan price usually requires AutoPay — your monthly bill is automatically charged to a debit or credit card on file. During signup, you will be asked to set up AutoPay. Provide your debit card or checking account information, or a credit card. AT&T sends a bill notification by email each month before charging you. Without AutoPay, the plan costs a few dollars more per month.

    Review your first AT&T bill carefully. The first bill may be higher than expected because it often includes a partial first month charge plus the full second month in advance. Subsequent monthly bills should match the quoted price.

    Transfer your phone number from your old carrier

    If you want to keep your current phone number, tell AT&T during signup that you want to transfer your number. Have your old carrier account number and PIN available — these are available by logging in to your old carrier's account or calling them. AT&T will initiate the transfer. It usually takes one to four hours. Your old carrier service cancels automatically once the transfer is done — do not cancel it yourself in advance.
