    Confirm you have active Xfinity internet service

    Xfinity Mobile is only available to current Xfinity (Comcast) home internet subscribers. Log in to your Xfinity account at xfinity.com or through the Xfinity app to verify your internet service is active. If your internet service was recently canceled, you will not be eligible to sign up for Xfinity Mobile.

    Check if your phone is compatible

    Go to xfinity.com/mobile and click "Bring your own device." Enter your phone's IMEI number (found under Settings > About Phone, or by dialing *#06#). Xfinity will confirm whether your phone works on their network and which SIM type to order. Compatible phones must be unlocked and capable of working on Verizon's network.

    Choose your plan and add a line

From there, you can add a new phone line, choose "By the Gig" or "Unlimited" pricing, and select whether to bring your own phone or buy a new one from Xfinity. Review current pricing carefully — Xfinity periodically adjusts rates and offers promotions.

    Activate your SIM and set up your phone

    Xfinity will ship a SIM card to your address, usually within a few business days. When it arrives, insert it into your phone. Then open the Xfinity app (or go to xfinity.com/activate on your phone's browser) to complete the activation. You will be guided through connecting your line and verifying your number.

    Switch your Wi-Fi calling and auto-connect settings

    To get the most out of Xfinity Mobile, make sure your phone automatically connects to Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspots. In your phone's Wi-Fi settings, look for "XFINITY" or "xfinitywifi" networks — these are public Xfinity hotspots your account lets you use for free. On iPhone, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and look for the Xfinity network. Enabling Wi-Fi Calling in your phone settings also lets you make and receive calls over Wi-Fi, which improves call quality at home.

    Warning

    Xfinity Mobile bills are added to your existing Xfinity account. If you cancel your Xfinity internet service, your Xfinity Mobile lines will need to be transferred to another carrier within a set window or service will be interrupted.

    Xfinity Mobile is a wireless phone service offered by Comcast to customers who already have Xfinity home internet service. It is not available to the general public — you must be an active Xfinity internet subscriber to sign up. The upside is that Xfinity Mobile can be quite affordable for households already paying for Xfinity internet, especially for people who do not use large amounts of cellular data.

    Xfinity Mobile runs on Verizon's network for cellular coverage and automatically connects to Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspots — there are millions of them around the country — when you are within range. This combination helps reduce how much cellular data you use, which can lower your bill if you are on a by-the-gig plan.

    Xfinity Mobile offers two pricing models. The "By the Gig" model lets you share a pool of data across your lines and pay only for what you use — starting around $15 for 1 GB per month per line. The "Unlimited" model charges a flat monthly rate per line, similar to other carriers. If you use more than a few gigabytes of data each month, the unlimited option is usually better value.

    Lines on Xfinity Mobile include unlimited talking and texting in the US. Hotspot data, international calling, and insurance are available as add-ons.
