    How to Download Apps on Your iPhone

    The App Store has hundreds of thousands of free apps. Here's how to find and install the ones you want.

    Open the App Store

    Tap the blue App Store icon on your home screen. It looks like a white "A" made of sticks on a blue background. If you cannot find it, swipe down from the middle of your screen and type "App Store" in the search bar.

    Search for an app

    Tap the Search icon at the bottom of the App Store. Type the name of the app you are looking for — for example, "WhatsApp," "Netflix," or "Zoom." Tap Search on your keyboard.

    Download a free app

    Tap the app from the search results to see its page. Tap the blue "Get" button. You may be asked to confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, or your Apple ID password. The app will download and appear on your home screen.

    Always check the number of reviews and star rating before downloading. Apps with thousands of reviews and 4+ stars are usually trustworthy.

    Download a paid app

    The price button shows the cost (for example, "$1.99"). Tap it to purchase. You will be charged to the payment method linked to your Apple ID.

    Update your apps

    Tap your profile photo in the top right of the App Store to see available updates. Tap "Update All" to update everything at once. Keeping apps updated is important for security.

    You can turn on automatic updates in Settings > App Store > App Updates so your apps stay current without any effort.

    Delete an app

    Press and hold the app icon on your home screen. Tap "Remove App" > "Delete App" to uninstall it. You can re-download free apps at any time at no charge.
