How to Use Google Voice for a United States Number While Abroad

Set Up Google Voice Before You Leave the United States

Download the Google Voice App on Your Phone and Laptop

On your iPhone, open the App Store. On an Android phone, open the Google Play Store. Search for Google Voice and tap the install button. The app is free. Open the app and sign in with the same Google account you used on the website. The app shows the same number you picked, plus tabs for calls, texts, and voicemail. On your computer, voice.google.com works in any web browser, including on a Mac, a Windows PC, or a Chromebook. The website and the app sync automatically, so a text you send from your computer shows up in the app on your phone within seconds. Test Call Quality and Internet Speed
