Learn the basics of using your iPad for browsing, email, photos, video calls, and entertainment.

    1

    Basic gestures

    ~15s
Swipe up from the bottom to go Home. Swipe down from the top-right for Control Center. Swipe down from the top-left for notifications. Swipe up and pause to see all open apps.
    2

    Set up your Apple ID

    ~15s
Your Apple ID connects you to the App Store, iCloud, FaceTime, and iMessage. Go to Settings > Sign in to your iPad. Use an existing Apple ID or create a new one.
    3

    Connect to Wi-Fi

    ~15s
Go to Settings > Wi-Fi. Tap your network name and enter the password. The iPad remembers networks and reconnects automatically.
    4

    Download apps

    ~15s
Open the App Store. Search for apps you want (Netflix, Zoom, Facebook). Tap Get, then confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, or your password. Apps appear on your Home Screen.
    5

    Use Split View

    ~15s
Open one app, then swipe up slowly from the bottom to see the Dock. Drag a second app from the Dock to the left or right edge of the screen. Both apps now run side by side.
    6

    Take and organize photos

    ~15s
Open Camera to take photos or videos. All photos sync to iCloud if enabled. Use the Photos app to view, edit, and organize pictures into albums.
    7

    Make video calls

    ~15s
Use FaceTime for video calls with other Apple users. Use Zoom, Google Meet, or WhatsApp for calls with anyone. The front camera shows your face during calls.
