    Getting Started with Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is used by millions of workplaces for video calls, messaging, and file sharing. Here is how to use it.

    1

    Download and sign in

    ~15s
Download Microsoft Teams from the App Store, Google Play, or teams.microsoft.com. Sign in with your work or personal Microsoft account. If your workplace uses Teams, your IT department should have given you login details.
    2

    Join a meeting

    ~15s
When someone invites you to a Teams meeting, you will get an email with a "Join Microsoft Teams Meeting" link. Click it at the meeting time. Choose whether to join with video on or off, check your microphone, and click "Join now."
    3

    Send a message

    ~15s
Click "Chat" in the left sidebar. Click "New Chat" and type the person name. Type your message at the bottom and press Enter to send. You can also share files by clicking the paperclip icon.
    4

    Use channels

    ~15s
Channels are group conversations organized by topic. Click "Teams" in the sidebar to see channels you belong to. Click a channel to read and post messages. Use the @mention feature (type @ then someone name) to get their attention.
    5

    Share your screen

    ~15s
During a meeting, click the share icon (rectangle with arrow) in the toolbar. Choose to share your entire screen or just one window. Click "Stop sharing" when you are done. This is useful for showing documents, presentations, or walking someone through a process.
