    Choose a cloud backup service

    Google Photos gives 15 GB free (shared with Gmail and Drive). iCloud Photos gives 5 GB free. Both automatically back up every photo you take to the cloud.

    Enable automatic backup

    Google Photos: Open the app > tap your profile picture > Photos settings > Backup > turn on. iCloud: Settings > Photos > iCloud Photos on. Photos upload over Wi-Fi.

    Delete duplicates

    Google Photos has a built-in duplicate detector. On iPhone, go to Albums > Duplicates to merge copies. This frees up storage space.

    Create albums

    Group photos by event: "Thanksgiving 2025," "Grandkids," "Garden." In any photos app, select photos, tap Add to Album, and create or choose an album.
