How to Create a Great Presentation

Build clear, engaging presentations using PowerPoint, Google Slides, or Canva.

    1

    Choose your tool

    ~15s
Google Slides (free): works in browser, easy sharing. PowerPoint (Microsoft 365): most features, industry standard. Canva (free tier): beautiful templates, easiest to make look professional.
    2

    Start with a template

    ~15s
Don't start from a blank slide. Choose a template that matches your topic. All three tools offer professional templates. Pick one with a clean, simple design.
    3

    The 6x6 rule

    ~15s
No more than 6 bullet points per slide, no more than 6 words per bullet. Your slides support your talk — they shouldn't be a script. The audience should listen to you, not read slides.
    4

    Use visually appealing slides

    ~15s
Use large images that fill the slide. One idea per slide is better than cramming everything in. Use consistent fonts and colors. White space is your friend — don't fill every inch.
    5

    Add images and charts

    ~15s
Insert > Image for photos. Insert > Chart for data visualizations. Images make information memorable. Charts make numbers understandable. Avoid clip art — use real photos.
    6

    Practice your delivery

    ~15s
Practice out loud, not just in your head. Time yourself. Know your first and last sentences by heart. Speak to the audience, not to the screen. Use Presenter Notes for reminders.
    7

    Present with confidence

    ~15s
Press F5 (PowerPoint) or Ctrl+F5 (Google Slides) to start. Use a clicker or arrow keys to advance slides. Speak slowly. Make eye contact. It's okay to pause — silence is powerful.
