    How to Set Up Netflix on Your TV

    Netflix has thousands of films, series, and documentaries. Here's how to get it running on your television.

    Check what you need before you start

    You will need a smart TV (or a streaming device like a Roku, Amazon Fire Stick, Apple TV, or Chromecast plugged into your TV), a broadband internet connection, and a Netflix account. Netflix plans start from around $4.99 per month.

    Find and open the Netflix app on your TV

    Press the Home or Menu button on your TV remote. Look for the Netflix app — it comes pre-installed on most Samsung, LG, Sony, and Panasonic smart TVs made after 2012. If you do not see it, go to your TV's App Store and search for "Netflix" to download it for free.

    Quick Tip

    If you are using an Amazon Fire Stick, Netflix is already installed. Look for it on the Fire Stick home screen.

    Sign in to your Netflix account

    Open the Netflix app and select "Sign In." Use your TV remote to type your email address and password. If typing with the remote is difficult, Netflix may show a code on screen — go to netflix.com/tv on your phone or computer and enter the code to sign in without typing.

    Browse and start watching

    Use the arrow buttons on your remote to scroll through categories and shows. Press OK or Enter to select something. Press OK or Play again to start watching. Use the back button to return to browsing.

    Set up parental controls (optional)

    If children use your TV, go to Netflix Settings and create a Kids profile — this only shows age-appropriate content. You can also set a PIN to stop anyone from watching mature-rated shows without permission.
