    How to Use Apple Maps for Directions

    Get directions on your iPhone using Apple Maps — no extra app download needed.

    1. 1.Open Apple Maps
    2. 2.Search for where you want to go

    4. 4.Pick your travel method
    5. 5.Tap Go to start

    Open Apple Maps

    On your iPhone, find the Maps app (it has a map icon with a road on it). It comes pre-installed on every iPhone — no download needed.

    Search for where you want to go

    Tap the search bar at the bottom of the screen and type an address, business name, or place. Select the correct result from the list.

    Tap Directions

    After selecting your destination, tap the blue "Directions" button. Apple Maps will calculate the best route for you.

    Pick your travel method

    Choose between Drive, Walk, Transit, or Ride at the top of the screen. Each option shows estimated travel time.

    Quick Tip

    Apple Maps integrates with your car's CarPlay system if you have it. The directions will show up on your car's screen.

    Tap Go to start

    Tap the green "Go" button to start turn-by-turn navigation. Siri will speak the directions out loud. You can adjust the volume using your phone's volume buttons.
