    How to Use Closed Captions on Your Smart TV

    Turn on subtitles and closed captions so you can read along with what is being said on screen.

    Open your TV settings

    Press the Settings or Menu button on your TV remote. Look for a section called Accessibility, Captions, or Subtitles.

    Turn on closed captions

    Find the Closed Captions or Subtitles option and switch it to On. This will show text at the bottom of the screen that matches what people are saying.

    Adjust caption style

    Many TVs let you change the font size, color, and background of captions. Look for an option called Caption Style or Subtitle Settings. Choose larger text if the captions are hard to read.

    White text on a black background is usually the easiest to read. Many TVs default to this setting.

    Turn on captions in streaming apps

    Some streaming apps like Netflix and Hulu have their own caption settings. While watching a show, look for a speech bubble icon or CC button on the screen. Tap it to turn captions on or off.
