How to Set Up Do Not Disturb on Your Phone

Silence notifications at night or during important moments without missing emergency calls.

    1

Turn on Do Not Disturb manually

    ~15s
iPhone: Open Control Center (swipe down from top-right) and tap the crescent moon icon. Android: Swipe down from the top and tap "Do Not Disturb." This silences all notifications, calls, and alerts until you turn it off.
    2

    Schedule Do Not Disturb

    ~17s
iPhone: Settings > Focus > Do Not Disturb > Set a Schedule. Choose times like 10 PM to 7 AM. Android: Settings > Sound > Do Not Disturb > Schedules. Set "Sleeping" to your bedtime hours. Your phone will automatically go silent at night and wake up in the morning.
    3

    Allow important calls through

    ~24s
You probably still want emergency calls to ring through. iPhone: Settings > Focus > Do Not Disturb > People > Allow Calls From > Favorites (or Everyone). Android: Settings > Sound > Do Not Disturb > People > Calls > Starred contacts. Add important people to your Favorites or Starred contacts.

    Quick Tip

Most phones also allow repeated callers through — if someone calls twice within 3 minutes, the second call will ring. This catches genuine emergencies.
