    How to Find Your Lost Phone

    Use built-in tracking to locate, ring, or lock your phone if it goes missing.

    Find a lost iPhone

    On any web browser, go to icloud.com/find. Sign in with your Apple ID. Click "All Devices" and select your iPhone. You will see its location on a map. Click "Play Sound" to make it ring (even on silent). If you cannot recover it, click "Lost Mode" to lock it and display a message.

    Find a lost Android phone

    On any web browser, go to google.com/android/find. Sign in with the same Google account on your phone. Your phone location will appear on a map. Click "Play sound" to make it ring for 5 minutes at full volume. Click "Secure device" to lock it remotely.

    Set this up BEFORE you lose your phone

    iPhone: Settings > [your name] > Find My > Find My iPhone — make sure it is ON. Also turn on "Send Last Location." Android: Settings > Security > Find My Device — make sure it is ON. These features only work if they were enabled before the phone was lost.

    Warning

    If you believe your phone was stolen, do NOT try to retrieve it yourself. Use the "Lost Mode" or "Secure device" feature to lock it, then file a police report.

    What to do if you cannot find it

    If the phone is offline or the battery died, the map will show the last known location. Check coat pockets, car seats, and couch cushions first — most "lost" phones are within 10 feet of where you are. If truly lost or stolen, remotely wipe the device to protect your personal data, then contact your phone carrier to suspend the line.
