    Confirm your coverage before filing

    ~29s
Log in to your carrier's account online or app — Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, or your carrier — and look for a section labeled "Device Protection" or "Insurance." This will show whether you are enrolled in a plan, what it covers, your deductible amount, and any annual claim limits (most plans limit you to two or three claims per year). Write down your plan name before you start the claim.

    Quick Tip

Quick Tip: You can also check your coverage by going to asurion.com and entering your phone number under "Check your coverage."

    2

Go to Asurion.com to start your claim

    ~21s
Open your browser and go to asurion.com. Click "File a Claim." Enter your 10-digit phone number and verify your identity with the PIN or code sent to your email. Select your carrier when prompted. You will then be guided through a series of questions about what happened to your phone — for example, whether it was cracked, lost, stolen, or stopped working.
    3

Choose a repair or replacement option

    ~33s
Based on your claim type, Asurion will present your options. For cracked screens or some hardware repairs, same-day or next-day repair through an Asurion-certified repair shop may be available. For lost or stolen phones, or phones that cannot be repaired, Asurion will offer a replacement device shipped overnight. Review the deductible for each option before confirming.

    Warning

Replacement devices are often certified refurbished, not brand new. Asurion guarantees they meet manufacturer standards. But they may show minor cosmetic wear. If you receive a replacement that does not work properly, you can report the issue to Asurion within a set window — usually 30 days.

    4

Pay the deductible and confirm the claim

    ~21s
Once you choose your repair or replacement option, you will be asked to pay the deductible by credit or debit card. Review the confirmation screen carefully before paying. It shows the deductible amount, what you are receiving, and the estimated delivery or repair time. After payment, you will receive an email confirmation with tracking information if your device is being shipped.
    5

Report a stolen phone to local police first

    ~21s
If your phone was stolen, most Asurion plans require you to file a police report before your claim can be processed. Go to your local police department's non-emergency line or online reporting portal to file the report. When you file your Asurion claim, you will be asked to provide the report number. Keep a copy of the report for your records.

Asurion is the largest phone insurance provider in the United States. If you have phone insurance through Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, or another major carrier, there is a good chance Asurion is the company actually handling your claims. Many people discover they have Asurion insurance only when they need it. It is often added automatically when you buy a new phone from a carrier.

Asurion covers a range of situations that can happen to a phone: cracked screens, water damage, hardware malfunctions, theft, and loss. Coverage details vary based on your specific plan, but most standard plans include all of these. There is usually a deductible (a fee you pay when filing a claim) that depends on your phone model — for newer, higher-end phones, deductibles can range from $29 to $299.

When you file a claim, Asurion usually offers one of two options: repair your existing phone (often same-day or next-day at an Asurion repair location or through a mail-in service), or replace it with a refurbished device of the same model or a comparable one. Replacements are generally shipped overnight.

To find out if you have Asurion coverage and what your plan includes, log in to your carrier's account or check your monthly phone bill. Insurance plans are usually listed as a monthly add-on charge like "Mobile Protect" (Verizon), "Protect Advantage" (AT&T), or "Protection 360" (T-Mobile) — all handled by Asurion.

Claims can be filed online at asurion.com, through the MyAsurion app, or by calling Asurion's customer service line at 1-888-562-8662.
