How to Take a Screenshot on Android

Save anything on your Android screen — receipts, maps, messages — with this simple two-button shortcut.

    1

    Use the universal button shortcut

    ~19s
Press the Power button and the Volume Down button at the same time. Hold them together for about one second, then release. You will see the screen flash and a screenshot notification will appear at the top of your screen.

    Quick Tip

This method works on almost all Android phones, including Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, Motorola, and OnePlus.

    2

Use a palm swipe on Samsung Galaxy phones

    ~17s
Samsung Galaxy phones have a special swipe method. Go to Settings > Advanced Features > Motions and Gestures and turn on "Palm swipe to capture." Once enabled, swipe the edge of your open hand across the full screen from right to left to take a screenshot.
    3

    Find your screenshot

    ~15s
Screenshots are saved to your Photos or Gallery app, usually in a Screenshots folder. You can also pull down from the top of your screen to see your notifications and tap the screenshot thumbnail to view it immediately.
    4

Take a scrolling screenshot to capture a whole page

    ~20s
Right after taking a screenshot, look for a "Scroll capture" button at the bottom of the screen. Tap it to keep adding more of the page below — useful for capturing a long webpage or conversation. Not all Android phones offer this feature.
